Betsy Foster joined Whole Foods Market in 1994. She is an alumnus of the University of Alabama where she earned her undergraduate in IT.   She later obtained her MBA from the University of Houston in Finance and International Business in the evenings while working full time.  For over 24 years she has held several positions within Whole Foods Market including National Operations Controller, VP and Chief Information Officer, VP of Purchasing, Distribution and Private Label, and has been in her current position for over 10 years as Global Vice President of Growth and Business Development.  In addition, she served as CFO of the company’s internet business, WholePeople.com, based out of Colorado.  In her current position she oversees mergers and acquisitions, international expansion, strategic partnerships, and lease administration.  Her Business Development team oversees the Local Producer Loan Program and the Strategic Equity Investment Fund.  They also partner with the 365 team to implement “Friends of 365 and WFM” to operate their brand inside WFM stores.  She oversaw the development and the current operations for Whole Foods Market’s Medical and Wellness Centers in Los Angeles and Austin, TX which offer primary care, as well as diet and lifestyle support, to team members and their dependents free of charge, as well as oversees the Whole Heath Care insurance plan.  

Betsy is passionate about children and their health and serves as the Board Chair for Marathon Kids Inc.  She is a founding member of Whole Cities Foundation.  She also serves on several Boards that Whole Foods Market has invested in.

Prior to joining Whole Foods Market, she worked for Exxon in both Houston and Los Angeles in various IT and financial roles.  When not working, Betsy enjoys spending time with her children, as well as fishing, cooking, exercising, and traveling.
