Michael is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Spiral Sun Ventures, a Chicago-based venture capital fund focused investing in innovative, early-stage companies making healthy consumer products. Michael started his professional career as an attorney at Mayer Brown, then transitioned to a business role at JLL (formally Jones Lang LaSalle). At JLL, Michael specialized in transaction management, innovation, and team leadership.
Michael is on the board of several companies in the natural products industry and was a founding member of the Urban Physic Garden, a 501(C)(3) organization dedicated to educating the public on the healing power of plants.
Michael earned a BA from the University of Michigan (1985) and JD from the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law (1990).
Originally from New York, Michael has lived in Chicago for the past 30 years where he currently resides with his wife, Dr. Melinda Ring, and two sons.
Aside from work and family, Michael is passionate about being outdoors, especially hiking in the mountains.
