The American entrepreneur who co-founded the world’s largest organic yoghurt company is coming to New Zealand to help Kiwi natural and organics businesses learn how to create new markets for their products.

Gary Hirshberg is chairman and former CEO of Stonyfield Farm in New Hampshire, an enterprise he helped grow from a seven cow organic farming school to a business with more than $US370 million in annual sales.

Hirshberg has over 30 years’ experience in creating new markets for natural products and is a vociferous advocate for environmentally responsible business practices. He argues that an entrepreneur’s ability to ask for help, support, money or advice is crucial, even after multiple rejections or dismissals.

“The bottom line is that entrepreneurs can never afford to leave a stone unturned when it comes to seeking the help you need,” Hirshberg says.

Joining Hirshberg from the Stonyfield Entrepreneurship Institute are business strategy and finance consultant, Bob Burke, and organic foods wholesale and retail expert, Walter Robb, the immediate past co-CEO of WholeFoods, recently acquired by Amazon.

The two-day boot camp on 6-7 November will be full of inspiring stories, practical workshops and valuable insights into what it takes to launch in America, as well as offer 1:1 coaching sessions.

Buy Pure New Zealand managing director Brendan Hoare says his company is hosting the boot camp because, “The world wants what we have to offer but we need to be able to deliver on our promise and potential. To have this kind of expertise on our doorstep is a wicked opportunity and shouldn’t be missed.”

The boot camp is sponsored by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, ANZ and The Foodbowl.
